I was at my nieces birthday on the weekend where her Godfather had made an awesome cake, which he revealed was a slow cooker cake recipe. The concept of a slow cooked cake had never occurred to me before, so straight away I was intrigued.
I am often in the situation where my house is a mess, the kitchen is atrocious, and I’ll think, hmmm, I should bake a cake! Today was one of those days. Problem is, I often make the cake, pop it in the oven and then forget about it! I cannot tell you how many cakes I have burnt in my time. So I’m cheating a little bit, because I really cooked this last night. I saved the chicken leftovers for tonight because I have a busy day ahead of me, and basketball for Master B, so leftovers made more sense for tonight’s dinner. But last night’s dinner was a really simple, nutritious dinner and the kids liked it. Three boxes ticked! Simple, nutritious, and kid approved 🙂 Oh, and a little bonus – it was a cheap meal!
So, it took a whole of 2 minutes on school holidays before my kids started with cries of hunger. Me: “Seriously, you just ate breakfast 10minutes ago, didn’t you?!” Or maybe that was me… “What time did you kids get up this morning?”
Kids: “It was light outside mum” in other words, it was really early and we don’t want to say exactly what time it was. Continue reading
