I’ve had extra kids here today, and although the older kids were really good, Miss O was traumatizing her little friend, who spent much of the time crying to go home. Poor poppet! I felt terrible that my baby was being a big bully. I kept trying to separate them, but as always, what one has, the other wants. Finally, I resorted to TV for Miss O and gave her friend some toys to play with near me so that I could keep an eye on her. That’s survival tip 1. Resort to TV when necessary. So, it’s Friday today. The school week is at an end (notice I didn’t say working week – the weekends are more work than a weekday!). Tonight is relax in front of the tv night, so that is always fun. The kids have already agreed upon a movie that they all want to watch. Even better. No arguing later about which movie they will choose. Master B often pulls out the ‘I’m the only boy boo hoo’ card when it comes to movies. Being the oldest also, means he wants to watch things that aren’t always appropriate for his younger sisters. But family movie night’s are just that, something appropriate for the whole family.
We are struggling a bit with our food journey. Hubby is struggling with the lack of (good) bread. I am too. I love bread. Really love it. We’ve tried gluten free bread but it’s still quite refined and it isn’t awesome. To top it off, his psoriasis doesn’t seem to be clearing up. Not sure if we should jump in and go the full auto immune protocol for the next 30 days or not… Anyone out there have experience with Guttate psoriasis and the autoimmune protocol? Things have been quiet on the blog this week, thanks to sleepless nights and grizzly children, which lead to an inability to write anything comprehendible. But today is Thursday, and it’s time t think about what I am cooking tonight. Usually I try to cook something that will also serve as leftovers for Saturday lunch. This weekend however, is full of birthday parties, so Saturday lunch and dinner are taken care of. Woot woot!
Last night, I had a bit of a disaster in the kitchen. Hubby texted me late afternoon to say that he didn’t get time to stop for lunch, he was starving, and what was for dinner? My response was, brown rice arancini balls with roast veg and guacamole (plus we always make a salad). He replied, nice. Great, so I was happy that he wasn’t put off with the idea of dinner, I hadn’t really prepped it yet because I had run out of brown rice, so had to wait for Miss O to wake before I could pop up to the supermarket and grab some. >
When I was a child, I had a book called ‘The big orange splot’. It was all about a ‘neat street’ where all the houses looked the same. Until one day, when a seagull flew over Mr Plumbean’s house carrying a tin of orange paint, and drops the tin on his house. It goes on to say that this starts a chain of events which leads to all the houses being individualized to reflect the dreams and lives of the people living in them. Continue reading
