We don’t eat enough fish. We try, but realistically, I probably only cook it once a fortnight, if that. Part of the issue is buying fresh fish locally to me is difficult, and expensive, so we tend to avoid it, but with good planning, I’m hoping to be able to pull off two weeks of fish based meals. Meal Planning for the week ahead

I’ve decided to start up a regular meal planning post on Sunday night. It will usually be a late post, as I don’t normally meal plan until kids are in bed and I’ve done what I need to do for the day. So, you know, probably 11pm 😉 .

I feel bad about my last sooky-la-la post . I have been thinking a lot about how I’ve been feeling, and what I need to do to turn this all around. Admittedly, 3 days away from the house, routine and the kids helped me relax, take some deep breaths, and get into the headspace I needed to be. Adelaide was fantastic, and I loved just walking around all day on my own, ducking into shops, stopping to look at buskers, and having a coffee whenever I wanted, without having to be here, there and everywhere all at once. I’m trying hard to stay in this positive headspace, and part of this is re-establising some sort of organisation around meal planning. Continue reading

San Choy Bow

San Choy Bow

It was all very exciting here yesterday as this recipe was featured on the baby hints and tips website. But for those who don’t follow us on facebook, I thought I’d post this recipe today, as it is a great family recipe. It’s a crowd pleaser, while being friendly to the budget.

Serves 15 generous servings
I love beef mince. It is such a versatile ‘cut’ of meat. It is cheap, and defrosts quickly when you have left meal preparations to the last minute. I have lots of mince recipes that I will be sharing with you over the coming posts, and the one I am starting with is San Choy Bow.
When I first made this, I wasn’t sure my kids would eat it. It is loaded with vegetables, and sweet Asian sauces, which my kids don’t normally go for. But surprisingly, every time I have made this, they all declare it as their favourite meal ever!
