If you live in Melbourne, Australia, or follow bloggers from this city, you will surely have learnt of our heat wave this week. The temperatures are soaring above 40’C, and the kids are all hot and booooorrreeeed!
This is hubby’s last week of holidays, so while he was available, I made him come with me to buy the kids school shoes. It was win-win, we get to go into air-conditioned comfort and I had adult reinforcement as we shopped. I find that most years, we have to buy new school shoes, either due to wear and tear or they have grown out of their old ones. This year was no different, although this year, we were lucky enough to need new runners for all the kids too. Please read that sarcastically. Continue reading
When I originally started this blog, my intention was for it to not just be about food. I wanted to talk about my day to day life, and how I organize myself, my four kids and hubby, share my experiences, and in doing so, possibly help other parents who are struggling to keep it together. I found myself, once kids went to bed, doing an entire day’s cleaning and sorting, even though I had been cleaning and sorting all day. Does that make sense?

I still managed to throw together a scrumptious chicken and veg soup, followed by a quick and easy chocolate brownie that I’ll be using for school lunch boxes. Continue reading
It was the long weekend here in Melbourne, Australia, thanks to the Queen’s birthday. For the first time in probably three months we actually had nothing planned. No kids sports, no birthday parties, no special celebrations. Nothing, nada, niente. What a luxury!
So, it was a pancake breakfast (made with almond meal and eggs – I don’t think I was hungry for the rest of the day!), relaxing morning, kids played on the trampoline, then played scrabble and I pottered around the house. We decided to take the kids to the movies to see Epic, which reminded me a bit of Avatar. The kids loved it and so did we. Of course I spent most of the time chasing Miss O up and down the stairs, which she thought was great fun! Continue reading
