How to overcome the Mummy slump

I’ve been a stay at home mum for nearly 11 years. Wow, seems like a verrrrry long time when you say it out loud! My weight has fluctuated, my financial situation has fluctuated, and my confidence has fluctuated. One of the things I’ve realized though, is that the way I dress, the way I do my hair or make up (or don’t do it!) really affects my mood.
I’ve been feeling very bleh lately. Kids have been sick, my weight has fluctuated to the wrong end of the stick, and my energy levels are low. It seems so easy throwing on the ‘work-out clothes’ and runners – at least I ‘might’ do some exercise right? It’s the thought that counts isn’t it? Errr, sadly, no. Continue reading

OOIAJ or Bircher Muesli or whatever you choose to call it

Juice free Bircher muesli aka overnight oats šŸ˜‰

Recently hubby and I were lucky enough to go to perth CHILD FREE for two nights, for my cousin’s wedding. We had buffet breakfast at the hotel, and whilst most of it was average, they had beautiful Bircher muesli. Hubby loved it, so I thought I’d make some at home. Google Bircher muesli and hundreds of recipes pop up. Bircher muesli is made by soaking oats in juice and yoghurt. Problem is, I don’t buy juice. Occasionally, for special occasions I’ll get the premium stuff (which is expensive), so unless you are going to juice stuff yourself, there isn’t a whole lot of nutrition in it- just lots of sugar! So google to the rescue again for Bircher muesli WITHOUT juice and there it is folks – OOIAJ (overnight oats in a jar). I have made this plenty of times, just never realized it was so similar to Continue reading

So, the day started with opening the dishwasher to find all the plastic cups had been tipped over and were full of gross dishwasher water. Nice.
Then my gorgeous son has decided recently that he wants to make coffee for me and hubby in the morning, which is so sweet, but-there is always a but- he made it too milky, not a problem for normal people. Unfortunately, I am like a crazy person Continue reading

About Me

Hello *waves with one hand, uses the other to shield eyes from spotlight* Thanks for dropping by my blog. This is a little bit about me…

I love being a SAHM, despite all the crappy days- and trust me, there are a few! I love cooking, and creating new recipes, although I hate the clean up! I generally cook using wholefoods, and make as much ofĀ the family’s meals from scratch as possible.Ā I am on a mission to reduce our wheat and refined sugar intake as a family this year and will be posting successful recipes for you to enjoy also.Ā I will still be postingĀ some recipesĀ Ā that use standard flour and sugar too, as I do still use them sometimes.

Early this year I announced to my hubby that this was the year I would get organized. He smiled gently at me and told me that I announce that every January. I obviously had forgotten previous years… So this year IS the year to be organized! I am all about lists and schedules- schedules for cleaning, kids morning routines, homework routines, chore charts- you get the idea! I’ll be posting these on the blog, feel free to copy them and edit them to suit your own family.

I was born into a family of five girls, all very different (strong) personalities, all a bit crazy in our own way (I’m sure they won’t mind me saying that, right?!). I met my amazing husband fifteen years ago and before long we were married. Thirteen years passed and we now have four beautiful kids. One boy, Master B (10yrs), followed by three girls Miss C (9yrs), Miss E (6yrs) and Miss O (20 months).

I constantly contradict myself – pleaseĀ don’t hold it against me! I love old movies, and adore DorisĀ Day andĀ Barbara Streisand. IĀ often confuse Kevin Costner and Brue Willis- I have no idea why, andĀ I enjoy tacky action movies, like Die Hard (speaking of Bruce Willis…). Ā I look forward to ‘meeting’ you all and hearing your feedback šŸ™‚ Have a wonderful day (or night!)
