My kids go to a great school, and 99% of the time I am happy. Tonight the school hosted the junior social, organised by the ptfa. When I went to drop Miss E off, the hall was completely dark except for some coloured disco lights flicking around. The music was so loud you could not talk to the person next to you. Add some cigarette smoke and a couple of spilt beers and it takes me back to my nightclubbing years! Miss E ran in enthusiastically, stopped dead in her tracks, turned and ran straight back to my side. And there she stayed for 1 hour. I made a complaint to one of the parents in charge about the lack of lighting, and there must have been a few more complaints because after a bit, some lights were switched on. When I looked around I saw mine was not the only anxious looking child. Miss E finally left my side 1/2 hour before it finished, ACDC’s TNT was blaring over the speakers. This is a social for kids aged 5-8years old.
I don’t know if I’m like an 80year old in a 33 year olds body, but either way, I don’t expect a junior school social to mimic an adult club.
Am I the only person who feels like this? Should I not feel bothered by this?
